What is SaaS (Software as a Service)?
A software distribution model where applications are hosted in the cloud and accessed via the internet on a subscription basis, rather than installed locally.
Software as a Service is a cloud computing model where the software provider hosts the application on their infrastructure and customers access it through a web browser. SaaS eliminates the need for installation, maintenance, and infrastructure management on the customer's end. Key characteristics include multi-tenancy (multiple customers sharing infrastructure), subscription pricing, automatic updates, and API-based integrations. Common SaaS examples include Slack, Salesforce, and Notion. At Attreides, we build SaaS platforms with multi-tenant architecture, subscription billing (Stripe integration), role-based access control, and scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
